This Last Will and Testament template lets you set out who should inherit your estate, who will administer it, and who should care for any minor children. It is written in plain English for use in England and Wales and includes attestation wording for the two witnesses. It is a will for straightforward circumstances; take advice if your estate is complex, includes business or overseas assets, or you want more elaborate trusts.

What does the template include?
The will is organised into the sections expected in England and Wales:
- Testator — your details as the person making the will.
- Revocation — cancellation of earlier wills, with a tick box where the will is made in expectation of a marriage or civil partnership.
- Declaration of Capacity — a declaration that you are of sound mind and acting freely.
- Appointment of Executor(s) — who will administer your estate.
- Appointment of Guardian (if applicable) — care of minor children if no parent with parental responsibility survives you.
- Funeral Wishes — your preferences for burial or cremation, stated as wishes and not binding instructions.
- Specific Bequests — particular gifts of money or items, with substitute recipients.
- Residuary Estate — who receives everything else, with substitute beneficiaries and fallback to the intestacy rules.
- Trusts for Minor Beneficiaries — holding gifts for children.
- Powers of Executor(s) — authority to manage the estate.
- Execution — the will is valid only if you sign it, or acknowledge your signature, in front of two adult witnesses present together who then sign; a gift to a witness or their spouse is void, and marriage or civil partnership revokes a will unless it was made in expectation of it.
